The Best Tweezers for Hooded Eyes (And a Shaping Method That Actually Works)

Hooded eyes have less visible lid space, so where the brow sits changes the whole face. Most instructions online tell you to 'lift the arch' — which is right, but only if you also protect the brow's fullness. Thin, high arches drop a hooded eye visually; a full, cleanly lifted brow opens it.

    The two-tweezer approach

A slant tweezer handles the shaping — the underside of the brow, the tail, any strays. A point tweezer handles the vellus hair between the brows and any fine hair that a slant skims over. On hooded eyes, precision above the arch is what makes the lift look intentional.

Map the arch higher — but keep the body full

Find the natural peak of your brow (roughly above the outer edge of the iris). On a hooded eye, tweeze slightly under this peak to create visible lift, but leave the top and body of the brow untouched. Volume above a lifted arch reads 'awake'; thin above the arch reads 'surprised'.

    Never over-tweeze the tail

A short brow tail visually drops the outer eye. Keep the tail long enough to end just past the outer corner of the eye.

    Angle changes everything

Hold the tweezer at 30–45°, working from the underside upward. A steep top-down angle catches the brow bone and hides your view of the hairline.

    Frequently asked

Should hooded eyes have thick or thin brows?

Fuller brows with a clean lifted underline consistently open a hooded eye. Thin, over-arched brows do the opposite.

Where should the arch sit for hooded eyes?

Slightly higher than the natural peak, above the outer edge of the iris — but only tweeze from the underside to lift it.

Can I use just a slant tweezer?

For shaping, yes. For the fine strays under a hooded arch, a needle-point makes the finish look pro.
